Delta Sigma Theta Scholarship for Seniors

Each year Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Los Angeles Alumnae Chapter assists African-American students in attaining their goal for post-secondary education through our annual scholarship program.

 

 
 

Eligibility:

  • Be an African-American high school senior within the County of Los Angeles school districts.

  • Have at least a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a four-point scale and a SAT score that is in the 90th percentile of higher.

  • Demonstrates extra-curricular activities and leadership qualities.

  • Show evidence of financial assistance.

 

Application Submission:

Transcripts and/or application packet must be submitted via U. S.Mail to:

Required Documents:

  1. Provide a 3 x 2 wallet size photo.

  2. An official copy of his/her high school transcript including Fall 2018 semester grades (Check to make sure SAT/ACT scores are included on official transcripts or attach a separate copy).

  3. Response to essay prompt (typed on application on a separate sheet of 8 ½ x 11 paper, 1” margins, 12 Times New Roman single space, and no more than 500 word counts).

  4. A copy of pg.3 of your Electronic Student Aid Report (SAR) from your Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) where personal letter stating financial need with extraneous circumstances on official school letterhead.

  5. Three (3) letters of recommendations:
    (1) Must be from college/twelfth grade counselor
    (1) From a department chair, 12th grade teacher, and/or administrator
    (1) From a community/civic leader, employer, or volunteer supervisor who will vouch for character of the applicant.

    *THE LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATIONS CANNOT BE FROM A FAMILY MEMBER. ALL RECOMMENDATIONS MUST HAVE A SIGNATURE.
