3 Possibilities for the Admission Decision

Excerpt from Jumpstart Meeting #18 c/o 2020

3 Possibilities for the Admission Decision

What does it really mean to be “Admitted”, “Rejected” or “WAITLISTED”?

YOUR 3 OPTIONS

What Does “Admitted” Mean?

  • For all schools - By May 1st You must deposit for admissions to “hold your spot”.

  • CSU – Accepting Admission will allow you to get Housing Information

and is not binding until you make the deposit (non-refundable)

  • CSU - What does “Conditional Admission” Mean – Provided no 2nd

Semester D’s of F’s or no significant reduction in Cumulative GPA (Retaining an INDEX of 2950)

  • The next step is ENROLLMENT which includes:

    • DEPOSIT of HOUSING, REGISTERING FOR ORIENTATION and REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES

What Does “Rejection” Mean?

  • It means that you were not accepted to the Freshman Class of Fall 2020- Spring 2021

  • A student can ASK about appeal – which may be more

effective this year......since students’ attendance patterns will be changed by families’ response to CV-19

  • However.....as with any appeal, here are the 3 problems:

    • Waitlisted student will be reviewed first – if there are waitlist students

    • Students who can prove that there is something WRONG in the review will be looked at before appeals for other reasons

    • Other appeal students will not get grant aid since the budget is deleted of expended by the time the appeal is considered (well after May 1st)

What Does “Waitlist” Mean?

  • The College or University believes a student can succeed on a campus, but the campus does not have the budget or resources to offer admissions. Some schools will place some of these students on a “Waitlist”.

  • Many times, usually in 30 to 45 days after May 1st , colleges will return to the wait list

  • Funding will be greatly reduced

What If I Do Not Get Into The College I REALLY Want?

  • Take Some Time to Work Through It but......Life needs to go on

  • Review the Other Schools to Which You are or will be accepted

  • It’s Good Time to Think About Your Career

  • It’s a Good Time to Understand that

Success in Life is Often 3 Steps Forward and 2 Steps Back
