The New Digital SAT: What Parents Need to Know

The college admissions landscape is constantly evolving, and one of the biggest recent changes is the arrival of the digital SAT.

Gone are the days of bubbling in answers on a scantron sheet – students will now be taking the crucial college entrance exam on a computer or tablet. This shift to a digital format might raise some questions for parents.

what you need to know About The New Test:

  • The digital SAT takes an hour less than its paper predecessor, clocking in at a streamlined (2) two hours.

This doesn't mean students will be rushed, though. The test has been redesigned to offer slightly more time per question, ensuring a thoughtful approach.

  • The familiar 1600-point scale remains unchanged. Students can choose to take the exam on a device provided at the test center, or they can bring their own approved laptop or tablet.

Our Digital SAT Prep Sessions, help students prepare for this new format and test day information.

  • While the digital format might seem more user-friendly for some, it's important to remember that the SAT is still a challenging test. Early preparation and strong test-taking skills are key to achieving a high score.

  • While the digital SAT is still required by many colleges, a growing number are adopting test-optional policies. It's always best to check the specific requirements of your child's target schools and consider their GPA.

Regardless of the admissions landscape, a strong performance on the SAT can open doors to scholarships and other opportunities.
